475 Ideas for a more democratic Europe

The calls for ideas on the recently re-launched Advocate Europe platform brought 475 ideas from all over Europe. Until next Tuesday, everyone who published ideas in the last three years of Advocate Europe, can vote on the most interesting idea of this year’s call. We are very happy with the outcome. The range of submitted ideas is amazingly broad – they span everything from using online methods to fostering new democractic innovation to using art and music to activate citizens. On top of that, ideas can be discussed by everyone in the community on the platform. That way, the initiatives behind the ideas get valuable feedback on their ideas and hopefully some exposure, even if their idea might not end up winning the contest in the end.

However, all of this is just the beginning. With the community vote and the selection by the Advocate Europe team, a shortlist will be created. Up to 30 shortlisted initiatives will be invited to an Idea Challenge Camp to refine their ideas, to find other people to collaborate with on their ideas – or develop entirely new ones. We are excited to see how everyone’s ideas will progress over the year and wish all the participants best of luck.
